The Town of Stockton has a Mandatory Recycling Program For All Residents.

  • Recyclables are picked up every other week - Please have items out by 5:00AM - See Recycle Calendar
  • Recycling material can be taken to the Portage County Recycling Site, 650 Moore Rd. Plover, WI  Phone # 715-343-6297.

Items being collected curbside.

Aluminum Cans
Shall include used beverage cans only

Container Glass
Includes container glass only.  Glass must be cleaned, with cap and neck rings removed.  Labels can remain on glass.  Glass should not be broken.  Glass does not include ceramic cup, dishes, ovenware, plate glass, hear-resistant glass such as pyrex, lead based glass such as crystal, or TV tubes.

Corrugated Cardboard
Shall include clean corrugated cardboard only, and must be flattened and bundled in bundles not more than twelve (12) inches high and twenty-four (24) inches wide and thirty-six (36) inches long.  Does not include waxed cardboard or "chipboard" such as cereal boxes, shoe boxes and similar materials.

Mixed Papers
Must be bundled in bundles not more than (12) inches high or placed in a brown paper grocery bag.  Includes all grades of papers: including white, colored, ledger, shiny coated, carbonless or NCR papers, envelopes, including windowed labeled, and Kraft; Magazines, phone books, computer print out paper, glued pads and tablets, file folders, keypunch cards, spiral notebooks, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, cardboard egg cartons, etc.  Can include pager clips and  staples.  Does not include hand towels or other paper products from restrooms or soiled napkins and paper plates.  Also does not include carbon paper cellophane or any waxed paper.

Newspapers
Shall include newspapers and newspaper advertisements.  Must be bundled in bundles not more then (12) inches high, or placed in a brown paper grocery bag.   Include catalogs, magazines, cardboard or other paper products with mixed papers.

Plastic Bottles
Includes only PLASTIC BOTTLES clearly marked with the recycling emblem, encircling the #1 (Pet ore Pete) or the #2 (HDPE). Does not include motor oil or antifreeze bottles, even if they are labeled #! or #2.  Caps must be removed. Labels and neck rings can remain on plastic.  Clean and flatten all bottles.

Tin Cans
Shall include tin coated metal cans and steel containers, which must be clean.    Cut out ends are recyclable.  Tin cans with "molded or round bottom" can be recycled without the "molded or round bottom" removed, provided the can has been rinsed and labels have been removed.

Batteries
Return battery to retailer you purchased from.  Or Take to Portage County Transfer Station, 600 Moore Road off of County Road B, Plover WI 54467
 
Appliances
Include air conditioners, clothes dryers, dishwashers, freezers, clothes washers, ovens, furnaces, refrigerators and stoves.

Tires
Tires are accepted at the Town of Stockton Springs Cleanup "fee applies" or take to local landfill or a retailer that accepts tires for recycling.  Fees apply.
Building & Construction Materials
Contact any local hauler or Veolia Waste Service at 421-3939 or 1-800-262-3101 for current fees.
Yard Waste
Compost in your back yard or check with a local landscaper.
